Walking the Wye - Illustrated Talk 2nd April 2025, 7pm, St Mary's Church, Ross-on-Wye‍. 2025 marks the 50th birthday of the Wye Valley Walk. Ruth Waycott, from the Wye Valley National Landscape team, wrote the new Cicerone official guide for the Wye Valley Walk Partnership and will be giving an illustrated talk and sharing some of her favourite 'Wye-lights' from the Walk. Celebrate fifty years of The Wye Valley Walk with Ruth Waycott, author of the new source-to-sea Cicerone Guidebook. Thursday 24th April, 7pm at Chepstow Library/ Hub. Ruth (who works for the Wye Valley National Landscape) wrote the book on behalf of the Wye Valley Walk Partnership, who maintain this much- loved route. In conjunction with the Chepstow Walkers are Welcome Festival Ruth will be giving an illustrated "Wyelights" talk on this beautiful walk from the river’s source on the slopes of Plynlimon through the countryside of the Wales–England border region to Chepstow.

Ross-on-Wye Walking Festival takes place 26th to 89th September 2025. Including 2 guided sections or the Wye Valley Walk, plus special interest walks to help you find out about this gorgeous area and meet local people.

Chepstow Walking Festival offers fantastic walks of all shapes and sizes, showcasing Chepstow and the Lower Wye Valley at its Spring finest.

Good news Llanstephan Bridge is repaired and now open!

Wye Valley Walk Diversion - South of Wye Bridge, Monmouth Due to a landslip a diversion is in place on the Wye Valley Walk immediately after crossing the Wye Bridge at Monmouth (Start of Stage 16 walking from source to sea). There is a signed diversion in place along the A466 going south for 1km and rejoining the Wye Valley Walk via a footpath on the right.

Lydbrook Bridge is closed for safety repairs. Alternate route (shown on map) stays on west bank of the Wye, through Symonds Yat West to the pedestrian bridge at Biblins (on Symonds Yat to Monmouth stage) to rejoin the official route. If you are overnighting in Symonds Yat East, after crossing Biblins Bridge head upstream for 1 mile to reach accommodation.

There has been a landslide on the Wye Valley Walk following very heavy rainfall. The landslide is in the Piercefield Woods section at The Alcove, close to Chepstow. Diversion signs show the signposted alternate path. A fallen tree is due to be removed asap.‍

Good news! The unsafe bridge has been repaired by Powys County Council and the Wye Valley Walk between Newbridge and Builth Wells is now fully open.

Good news as we go into Autumn and Winter, the bridge over the Hardwicke Brook (NE of Hay-on-Wye, SW of Priory Farm at Grid Ref SO 2479 4414) has been replaced and the Wye Valley Walk is now fully open. Thanks to Herefordshire Rights of Way team for their efforts to get this bridge installed.
