Rambling through the Wye Valley, the ruins of Tintern Abbey come into view – beauty in stone while the chants of long-ago monks seems to echo round these stones. We follow sections of the Wye Valley Walk, the Offa’s Dyke Path and surrounding trails meandering along the hillsides high above the majestic River Wye often emerging at superb viewing points such as Symonds Yat Rock and the Eagle’s Nest.

The Wye River criss-crosses the Welsh and English borders as it winds its way through scenic and tranquil countryside. As a border river it has an intriguing history with Iron Age Hillforts and a string of castles defending its boundaries. Today, it’s a place where grapes ripen, salmon leap, markets bustle and culture thrives, especially in Hay-on-Wye, a famous literary town.
